IM Autohaus
Our Task
Auto Repair Website Design Task
Create a new website design project for IM Autohaus, an independent European auto repair and service business in Falls Church, Virginia, with a long history serving customers throughout Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC Metro area.
The website needed to present IM Autohaus as a trusted dealer alternative for specialized service, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, programming, and body shop work. It also needed to communicate the company’s long history, customer pledge, brand expertise, and service coverage for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Saab, Subaru, and Volvo owners.
The project also needed to support local search visibility for customers looking for European auto repair, auto service, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair in Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC Metro area. The goal was to create a site that could organize detailed service information while still making the user experience clear, professional, and easy to navigate.
Additional branding, graphic design, and marketing services supported the website and the broader IM Autohaus identity. This included designing the logo for IM Autohaus and applying the brand across signage, print, direct mail, and marketing materials.

About IM Autohaus
About IM Autohaus
IM Autohaus is an independent European auto repair, service, and body shop business located in Falls Church, Virginia. The company serves customers throughout Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC Metro area with specialized automotive service, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, programming, and customer support for several major European and import brands. For blueunderground, IM Autohaus is a strong example of a website project that needed to communicate technical expertise, long-term trust, brand specialization, and local service relevance.
IM Autohaus was formed through the merger of International Motors and Swedish Motors Cars, bringing together a history dating back to 1960 and more than 250 years of combined automotive experience. The business has long operated around a guiding principle: loyal customers are more important than short-term profit. That customer-first philosophy is central to how IM Autohaus presents its services, its team, and its role as an alternative to the dealership service experience.
Unlike a general repair shop that tries to be everything to everyone, IM Autohaus has built its reputation around specialized service for vehicles that require experience, diagnostic knowledge, and the right technical tools. The company provides service for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Saab, Subaru, and Volvo vehicles. Its team supports owners who want dealership-level knowledge and professional service without the rush, stress, or impersonal feeling that can come with a large dealership service department.
The company’s service model emphasizes individual care and attention. IM Autohaus highlights the long average tenure of its employees, which helps reinforce the idea that customers and their vehicles are known over time. That continuity matters in automotive repair because service history, recurring issues, driving habits, vehicle age, and brand-specific maintenance requirements can all affect how work should be diagnosed and completed.
For BMW owners, IM Autohaus presents itself as a dealer alternative for service, body work, diagnostics, repairs, and programming across the BMW model range, including the 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and 8 Series. For an automotive service website, this kind of brand and model detail helps visitors quickly understand whether the shop has relevant experience with the vehicle they drive.
For Mercedes-Benz owners, IM Autohaus emphasizes specialized care, diagnostic capability, repair experience, and software support for models such as the A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, G-Class, GLC, GLE, GLS, and S-Class. The page structure needed to support these service categories in a way that felt organized, useful, and credible to customers comparing dealership service with an independent repair specialist.
MINI service is also a major part of the IM Autohaus offering. The company supports owners of vehicles such as the MINI Cabrio, MINI Clubman, MINI Countryman, MINI Hatch, MINI Paceman, and MINI Coupé and Roadster. For a specialized automotive repair website, these details help reinforce depth of experience and give search engines more context about the specific services and vehicles represented on the page.
The company’s Saab history remains an important part of its identity, especially for owners who still rely on experienced Saab technicians, diagnostic tools, parts knowledge, and specialized support for vehicles that are no longer manufactured. IM Autohaus also provides service for Subaru and Volvo owners, extending the company’s position as a trusted independent service center for multiple import and European brands. Volvo service, for example, may include support for older and newer models, diagnostic work, maintenance, repairs, and software-related service needs.
IM Autohaus also offers full-service body shop work with trained professionals and color match capabilities. This broadens the company’s role beyond routine maintenance and repair. Customers may turn to IM Autohaus for diagnostics, mechanical repairs, software updates, maintenance, collision-related services, and broader automotive care. That range of services made the website’s structure especially important because visitors may arrive with very different needs depending on the vehicle they drive and the problem they are trying to solve.
The website for IM Autohaus needed to support that complexity without overwhelming the visitor. A strong automotive repair website has to help users quickly understand what the shop does, which brands it services, where it is located, why it is trustworthy, and how to take the next step. It must also support local search visibility for terms related to auto repair, European auto service, brand-specific maintenance, diagnostics, body shop work, and service in the surrounding region.
Location is also part of the IM Autohaus value proposition. The business is located in Falls Church, Virginia, less than six miles from Georgetown and near the East Falls Church Metro. That makes the company accessible to customers from Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, Arlington, Falls Church, McLean, and nearby communities. For a service business like IM Autohaus, local relevance is critical. The website needs to communicate both specialized automotive expertise and geographic convenience.
IM Autohaus’s customer pledge, long history, experienced staff, brand-specific service knowledge, dealer-alternative positioning, and full-service body shop capabilities all needed to come through in the website, branding, logo design, signage, and marketing materials. The result is more than a simple auto repair website. It is a brand and service platform for a specialized automotive business with deep roots in the Washington, DC region.
